Tapas Sarkar
Tapas Sarkar (b. 1952) is a renowned Indian sculptor known for his dynamic figurative works inspired by mythology, folk traditions, and contemporary life. Born in West Bengal, he graduated from the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata, and later served as Head of the Studio at the Indian Museum, Kolkata. Working across bronze, terracotta, aluminium, and mixed media, his sculptures reinterpret the Kalighat artistic tradition through a modern visual language. Widely exhibited in India and internationally, Sarkar is recognized as one of the leading contemporary sculptors of his generation.
