Nema Ram Jangid
Nema Ram Jangid is a contemporary Indian artist from Sumerpur, Rajasthan, whose practice draws deeply from his surroundings and memories of rural Rajasthan. His work reflects an intimate observation of village life, particularly its landscapes, everyday activities and cultural traditions that are gradually disappearing.
Earlier in his practice, Jangid worked extensively with rope, using it as a metaphor for the various forms of control and constraints present in life. His artistic language later expanded towards subjects drawn from his immediate environment, including landscapes, village life, the panghat (village water source), banyan trees and daily rural activities. Through his work, he seeks to preserve these familiar elements of village culture and keep their memory alive.
Jangid has participated in numerous exhibitions, art camps and sculpture initiatives across India. His documented engagements include NGMA Mumbai (2019), Jehangir Art Gallery Mumbai (2018), Ravindra Bhawan New Delhi (2018) and exhibitions at Kanoria Art Centre and Hutheesing Art Gallery in Ahmedabad. His first solo exhibition was held at Ravishankar Raval Kala Bhavan, Ahmedabad, in 2011.
