Vishakha Apte
Vishakha Apte is a distinguished Indian contemporary artist and printmaker whose practice explores the relationship between material, memory, form and time. Born in Nashik, Maharashtra, in 1966, she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai, in 1987. She later moved to Bhopal, where she worked at the Graphics Studio of Bharat Bhavan as a freelance artist, developing her practice in printmaking.
Apte initially worked extensively with etching and collography, gradually expanding her practice into carved and collaged handmade paper, mixed media, oil painting and, later, paper pulp and ceramics.
