Pintu Sikder
Pintu Sikder is a contemporary Indian sculptor based in Kolkata, known for transforming industrial and everyday materials into distinctive sculptural forms. Born in 1983 in Shibarampur, on the outskirts of Kolkata, he completed his Bachelor of Visual Art from the Indian College of Art & Draftsmanship in 2006 and later earned a Master of Fine Arts from Rabindra Bharati University in 2008, specialising in sculpture.
Sikder’s artistic practice is characterised by an innovative engagement with materials such as brass nuts, welded metal, clay, wood and other industrial elements. His use of the humble brass nut as a primary material has become particularly distinctive, allowing him to construct sculptures with remarkable structural strength while retaining a sense of movement and fluidity.
